Last day in Singapore

We are back in the Netherlands now, but below is our last day in Singapore. In the morning we had a swim. After that we had lunch with Kathleen and Iris, old colleagues of papa. It was nice to see them again.

In the afternoon we went to little India, we went to a Hindu temple. A man was offering, he throws food and oils in to the fire, to offer.

 In the evening we went to a nice restaurant for dinner. It was close by the Singapore river, so we had a very nice view.

After that we went home and Mare and i slept for a hour. Daddy and Mommy waked us up at 9:30. We picked our last stuff and we took the MRT (metro) to Changi Airport. In the MRT i slept 30 minutes. At Changi Airport we walked around a bit, Mare and I bought some Enlish books and then we went to the gate. At 1:30, after midnight we took off. I slept better in the plane then on the way to Bangkok, and I watched some videos as well.

New Year's Eve and Day

Happy New Year!!!

Yesterday was the last day of 2016. A very special day to be in Singapore. The fireworks are very big here, but it is only in a few places, people can not have their own fireworks. Every year there is a big firework show at Marina Bay. It is always very very crowded. We wanted to see the fireworks, but we wanted some space as well, so Mare and I could sleep a bit before the fireworks begun.  

We went to the Gardens by the Bay, that is a very big park behind the Marina Bay Sand's hotel.

We had a pickinck and then Mare and I had a nap. I woke up again at 23:30, and waited for the fireworks to begin. It was very nice!!!

We had our own star-sticks as well. But the police came to tell us that it was not allowed to burn them...

After the fireworks we needed to take the MRT (metro) back. It was very very busy at the station, thousands of people came back from the firework, and wanted to take the MRT as well.  

We slept very well and after breakfast we had a nice swim. 

Now we are in Arab Street, having a coffee and waiting for the rain to stop, the first rain since we are in Asia!

Botanic gardens and pizza bar

Mare: On Friday we went to the botanic gardens in the morning. It is a beautiful garden. We walked around and went to the children garden. We also went to the place were papa and mama got married 13 years ago.

From the botanic gardens we took the bus to de pizza bar. We had lunch with Vandana. It was nice to see her again and to be at the pizza bar again. When we lived in Singapore the pizza bar was one of our favorite restaurants! Later Cheng and Christine joined us for coffee. It was also very nice to see them again!

 

Singapore zoo

Thursday we went to the zoo. We took the taxi, and we were very early. It was not very busy. First we had a look at the animals, it was very nice. 

Later we walked to the water playground, and we had some lunch. 

After playing with water, we went to an animal show. That was also very nice. In the afternoon it was very busy, more people wanted to visit the zoo.

In the water playground, was a very big bucket. 2 water pipes filled the bucket, when it was full, the bucket turned and all the water came down on you. We liked that. There were also 3 slides, and a lots of more. 

Mousedeer (muis hertje)

The animal that i liked the most were: The baboons, The giant turtles, The stokstaartjes, the fragile forest, that are a lot of animals together: mouse deer, flying fox, ducks ( they fly very low), squirrels, and lots of more.
